Kangaroo Point Green Bridge

Brisbane City Council is building new green bridges across Brisbane which will make it easier to get around our city on foot, by bike or scooter, or by connecting with public transport.  It is set to improve the city’s connectivity by providing more travel options and reducing vehicle traffic.

The new bridges will link Kangaroo Point to the Brisbane CBD, Toowong to West End, St Lucia to West End, as well as a new crossing at Breakfast Creek.

The Kangaroo Point Green Bridge will provide a seamless link between Kangaroo Point and the CBD.  It is also set to be a premier landmark and new riverside space for Brisbane residents for generations to come.  Key features include:

  • a river crossing between the corner of Alice Street and Edward Street in the CBD, and Scott Street at Kangaroo with a length of around 460m
  • viewing platforms and rest nodes to provide panoramic views of the CBD skyline, Kangaroo Point cliffs, City Botanic Gardens, and the Story Bridge
  • green design features including solar panels, cooling vegetation and shade cover along the length of the bridge
  • potential new unique dining options, including an above-water restaurant, helping to create an iconic destination for Brisbane residents
